Banco Santander buy signal. Bounced off 50% fib line. STD

image

Banco Santander (NYSE: STD) is now a buy after the stock bounced off its 50% fib line.

The recent fall in stock price was attributed to the change in leadership of the Santander UK division, resulting in severe disappointment by market players as the UK IPO might now be priced lower.

Nevertheless, STD continues to show resilience and strong management. I believe that Banco Santander may bounce for a short term bounce. For the long term, Banco Santander (given its high dividend yield) may start to trade at 1.5X TBE. And that’s about $15.60.

A 40% upside from here.

Any further dip will be bought into.

I believe the stock will trade ex-dividend tomorrow. The dividend is 16cents/share.

Betting on the return of Financials!

I am shifting full focus in financials. This sector will lead the last leg of the DOW’s march to 12000.

JPMorgan and Bank Of America would most probably start their fast rally upwards, possibly making new highs very soon.

Again, the catalysts are…

Lower credit charge offs,

Improvements in delinquency

Overall expansion in the economy

more loans serviced

Expected inflation.. demand for loans will continue to go up

Continued housing recovery.

Playing catch up … with the S&P and Dow

Dividends increase

And I also like Banco Santander as it is a play on the European and Latin American economies. This is to diversify the financials exposure to include NON-US countries.

Nevertheless, Bank Of America will be my top pick.

Wrong about Metal Stocks. $X, $FCX all rose. Santander is a buy again. $STD

$X could head extremely high up if it beats estimates tomorrow. I would not be surprised if it jump 7% due to short squeezing.

The market is going to be consolidating.

I bought some Banco Santander stocks $STD at $13.30 ahead of their dividends EX DATE 28 APRIL, and earnings.

United States Steel will dictate the next move in the metals market.

Out of Banco Santander, Long on AES corporation, Bank Of America Corp and Alcoa Inc. $STD, $AES, $AA

I sold my Banco Santander Shares today after it rosed to $14.5.

I will look at Banco Santander again at $14.

I am still holding AES corporation. It is experiencing enormous selling pressure. However, I believe that Natural gas is rebounding and this would boost AES shares.

Alcoa Inc: Alcoa earnings is much poorer than my hope of 20cts. I am still holding Alcoa long and I will sell it at $15.5. The stock might experience a dip tomorrow.

Bank Of America Corp: I will sell Bank Of America Corp at $19.

Banco Santander central hispano sa, pullback buying opportunity. $STD

Today, Banco Santander shares tumbled as Spain announced its first bailout of one of its local bank. This shows that the housing market is still weak in Spain.

February, Spanish banks had to lower their housing loans assets by 20% due to the weak housing market. Spain unemployment continues to worsen as the country is expected to contract by almost 1%.

However, Banco Santander has been oversold. Santander’s Spanish operations amount to about 30% of the company’s revenue. The company operates the 3rd largest bank in the UK, and it is one of the largest diversified banks in the world. 30% of its operation is based in Brazil and Latin America, another 30% in UK and the rest of Europe, and the remaining 10% is spread across the US and Asia.

This bank is fully diversified. It is enjoying the huge growth rates in the emerging markets. The recent Spanish news is a good chance to enter STD at a cheaper price.

This is the daily chart. STD has gone up to $17 and now it is at $13.38. I have a mid term price target at $15.60 and a long term price target of $20.

The short term trading target is a mini break out to $14.10.

Banco Santander continues to run. Bullish. $STD

I managed to buy Banco Santander at $13 last week after I initiated it.

Today, it is trading at $13.6. It is still looking very bullish and it is closing on a strong resistance at $13.8

Watch $13.8. If Banco managed to pass through that, this stock will climb to $14.2

2 euro-related BANKS to consider. Banco Santander, S.A. and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA. $STD, $BBVA

I am going to start adding 2 foreign banks into my portfolio. They are ADR stocks traded in the NYSE.

Banco Santander and Banco Bilbao have fallen a great deal from their peak a few months ago due to the debt crisis in the EURO zone. Domestic troubles in Spain have allowed these 2 stocks to dip more than 35% from their high.

These 2 banks have very good fundamentals. They are trading at 9.68X P/E of their latest earnings, while stocks like JPMorgan are trading at 19X.
They are trading at only 7.6X forward P/E. These stocks are trading at a steep discount compared to their peers in the US. They are offering the highest dividend yield of 6.5% compared to US banks that are offering 2% dividend or less.

BUY STD at $13.
BUY BBVA at $13.2
